In Kyrgyzstan around 94% of children in homes are so-called social orphans. The parents are not able to raise their children themselves for various reasons. In Autumn 2025, we are planning a new project to Kyrgyzstan in partnership with the Uplift Project.
This community-based psychoeducation programme designed blends brain-based education, trauma-informed care, and peer-led support to help individuals better understand the connection between chronic pain, emotional stress, and medication use while supporting mental wellbeing and social connection.
This pilot programme will offer tailored support to grandparents and extended family members of neurodivergent children, recognising that many caregivers may not have the tools or confidence to support their families effectively.
